 Dr. Faisal Awartani

Dr. Faisal Awartani has been the CEO of Alpha International since its inception in 2001.

He is highly experienced in designing and implementing market research, socio-economic studies, monitoring and evaluation projects; over the course of his career, Dr. Awartani supervised more than 200 projects in relation to economic growth, policy analysis and reform studies, socio-economic studies, monitoring and evaluation.

 

Dr. Awartani has a solid track record in the area of data analytics and predictive analytics at both the theoretical and practical levels. He worked on developing credit scoring models using various techniques such as multivariate regression analysis, tree-based analysis, and other models. Moreover, he worked with the telecom sector to develop churn models to identify risky customers. Dr. Awartani led various market research/informatics and policy analysis studies supporting large scale local private sector companies and international organizations that carried out projects in Palestine in the area of economic development like Chemonics International (USAID), DAI , ARD, CHF (Global Communities), UNDP, World Bank, Quartet, etc. Dr. Awartani is currently working at the regional level trying to promote ideas related to data driven decision making among both public sector and private sector organizations using newly established concepts in relation to predictive analytics and big data.

Dr. Awartani’s served as an Assistant Professor of Statistics at Birzeit University in Palestine from 1993-2005. He also served as instructor at American university in Washington DC from 1989 till 1993.

 

Dr. Awartani earned his PhD in Statistics from American University in Washington DC, (1993), his master’s degree in Computer Science from American University in Washington, DC (1988), and a bachelor's degree in Mathematics with distinction from Birzeit University, Palestine (1986).
